Our approach
What the subscription covers
We start by getting your own contracts right, then we're on hand for whatever comes in. That means reviewing or redrafting your standard agreements, dealing with clients who want to negotiate or change them, and reviewing contracts when a client insists on using their own paper. You also have a solicitor you can ask about contracts day to day.
The focus is commercial contracts, such as client agreements, supplier terms, service agreements, software licences and NDAs. If something falls outside that (an employment dispute or a corporate transaction, say), we'll tell you at the outset and either handle it separately or point you to the right person.

How the subscription works
- Discovery. We'll have and in-depth conversation about your templates, the contracts you use, roughly how many you send or receive each month, and how often they get negotiated.
- Scoping. We'll agree a scope based on the information you've given us and a monthly fee.
- Templates. The detail depends on what you need, but usually we review your standard agreements or redraft them completely, so you start from a solid base.
- Contract reviews and negotiation. When a client wants changes to your standard contract, or insists on using their own paper, you send it over and we'll pick it up.
You'll have a dedicated Slack channel (Slack or Teams, whichever you use) for sending contracts and asking questions, though we're happy with email and calls too. There's no need to open a new matter or ask for a quote each time. For anything within scope, you send it over and we come back with a clear note on the issues, what to push back on and what you can live with.
There's no fixed number of contracts each month and no hard cap. The fixed monthly fee is based on our shared expectation of your needs. From time to time we'll look at the scope, how much you've used us and whether the fee still fits. If you're sending more than we expected, or something different, we'll talk to you and adjust the fee.
Who we work with
The subscription suits businesses where contracts land on someone's desk most weeks and need a sensible answer quickly. That usually means agencies, tech businesses and growing companies that send proposals and project agreements to clients, and are regularly asked to sign supplier terms or software licences.
The Contracts Subscription is different from Tend's GC Subscription, which covers the full range of Tend's services across corporate, commercial and employment. The Contracts Subscription is narrower and priced accordingly: it's for businesses whose primary need is commercial contracts support, handled consistently and without the friction of arranging it each time.

Frequently Asked Questions
There's no fixed number each month and no hard cap, though it is subject to reasonable use and availability. When we set up the subscription we record how many contracts we expect, based on what you tell us and what we see in your templates, and the fee reflects that. From time to time we review the scope, how much you've used us and the fee. If you're sending more than we expected, or different types of contract, we'll talk to you and adjust the fee where needed.
A review covers reading the contract, identifying the key issues, and giving you a clear steer on what to push back on and what to accept. For longer or more complex contracts, we flag the provisions that actually matter rather than commenting on every clause. You get a practical summary, not a tracked-changes document.
Yes. The subscription covers both: reviewing counterparty paper you've been asked to sign, and reviewing or updating your own templates and client-facing agreements. Template maintenance is part of the scope, so if a term in your standard agreement needs updating because the law has changed or your business model has shifted, that's included.
Ad hoc instructions work well for occasional or one-off contracts. The subscription is for businesses where contracts come up regularly enough that the friction of arranging legal advice each time is a problem. The subscription removes that friction: the channel is open, the solicitor knows your business and your risk appetite, and the work happens as a matter of course rather than only when something looks risky.
The GC Subscription covers all of Tend's services: commercial contracts, corporate, employment and everything in between. It's designed for businesses that want a senior solicitor across all their legal needs. The Contracts Subscription is narrower: it's focused solely on commercial contracts support. If your main legal spend is on contracts and you don't need regular corporate or employment advice, the Contracts Subscription is likely the better fit.
No, the scope of the subscription will be tailored to your needs: the type and number of contracts you deal with, how often they are negotiated and how many stakeholders in the business we are dealing with. We can also help with maintaining contract databases and prepare negotiation playbooks. Before we agree anything, we'll talk to you about your business and make sure we understand it properly. We'll then agree a bespoke scope and an appropriate fee based on that, which means you're not paying for things you don't need.
