Our approach
What we cover
Ad hoc questions handled properly: a disciplinary situation you're not sure how to manage, a flexible working request you need to respond to correctly, a resignation that has come with a grievance attached. The subscription also covers contract and policy reviews to keep your documentation current, and support with formal procedures including disciplinary hearings, grievance investigations, and capability processes.
You access the service through a dedicated Slack or Teams channel. You ask the question, you get a straight answer from a solicitor who knows your business. No hunting for the right person to call, no billable clock ticking while you explain the background for the fourth time. Just practical advice when you need it.

How we work with you
The subscription model exists because employment issues don't arise on a predictable schedule. You might go three months without a significant HR query, then have two at once. A fixed monthly fee means you can pick up the phone (or open the Slack channel) without calculating whether it's worth it. It also means we get to know your business, your team structure, and your existing documentation. When something comes up, we already have the context.
At the start of the subscription we'll review your existing employment contracts and policies. If there are gaps or documents that need updating, we'll flag them and can address them as part of the service. Over time we can help you build out your documentation to match how your business is growing, handle the employment dimension of new hires and senior appointments, and keep you compliant as the law changes.
The subscription pairs well with our other employment services. Employment Contracts and Policies covers the documents; Performance Management and Redundancy cover the processes when things get difficult. The subscription sits across all of it, available when you need it.
Who we work with
The subscription is designed for businesses with employees that deal with HR situations on a regular basis and want legal support without unpredictable costs. Typically that means businesses of ten or more employees where people questions arise often enough that having someone on call is genuinely useful.
Our clients include founder-led agencies, tech businesses and high-growth companies that don't have an in-house HR function or legal team. The subscription gives them something close to an in-house employment lawyer, without the overhead of a full-time hire. If you're at the stage where people matters are a regular part of running the business, this is the service for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Anything you'd normally call a solicitor about: a question about a disciplinary situation, advice on how to handle a grievance, a question about notice periods or holiday pay, a query about a maternity or paternity rights situation. You use the channel when you need it. If something is a larger piece of work (a full handbook rewrite, for example) we'll discuss whether it falls within the subscription or should be priced separately.
No. The subscription runs month to month and you can cancel on one month's notice. We set it up this way because the service should be worth staying for, not something you feel locked into. The value builds as we get to know your business: at the start we review your contracts and policies, and once we understand your team and your documents, the advice gets faster and more specific to you.
We aim to respond to questions during working hours. For urgent situations that arise outside those hours, we'll do our best to help. If you have a specific concern about response times, raise it when we talk about the subscription and we can discuss what's realistic.
Yes. Support through a formal process is included: helping you prepare, advising on procedure, reviewing your outcome letter. If a matter escalates to a tribunal claim, that would be priced separately, but the subscription covers everything up to that point.
We'll help where we can and refer you to the right person within Tend where the issue sits outside employment. If you have needs across multiple legal areas, our GC Subscription might be a better fit.
No. Every business is different. The right scope depends on the size of your workforce, how active your employment situation is, and what level of ongoing advice you actually need from us.
Before we agree anything, we'll talk to you about your business and make sure we understand it properly. We'll then agree a bespoke scope and an appropriate fee based on that, which means you're not paying for things you don't need.
